Pemberdayaan Guru pada Screnning Refleks Primitif Anak di SLB Kota Jambi

Abstract

Children with physical disabilities often experience motor development disorders influenced by the delayed integration of primitive reflexes. Retained primitive reflexes can hinder the development of a child's posture, balance, coordination, and functional motor skills. Therefore, an intervention program is needed to facilitate primitive reflex integration and improve the motor abilities of children with physical disabilities. The objective of this community service activity was to provide education on primitive reflex screening to teachers at a Special School (SLB) in Jambi City. The methods employed included lectures, discussions (Q&A sessions), and demonstrations of primitive reflex screening, conducted between April and July 2026. The activity targeted teachers at SLB Negeri Sri Soedewi, aiming to ensure they understood primitive reflex screening in the context of child growth and development. This initiative sought to inform teachers at SLB Negeri Sri Soedewi about primitive reflex screening—specifically the assessment of retained primitive reflexes—to enhance the motor skills of special education students; the session lasted 45–60 minutes and involved nine teachers. The outcome was an increase in the teachers' knowledge regarding primitive reflex integration and child development, as well as their ability to successfully re-demonstrate the integration techniques.
